Hi,
my name is Tomislav and I'm an independent artist, electronic music
producer and composer from Zagreb, the capitol of Croatia. I'm active
in music production since 1992. I've composed and recorded numerous
instrumental compositions during the years, including those that were
used as sound-tracks for TV production and DVD's. I've also
collaborated with other musicians as a composer and keyboarder
including rock group "Faust", new age ensemble "Ocean of Bliss" and
pop-fusion group "Senzar". I've played
various musical genres, including new age, jazz-fusion, pop-rock and
even hip-hop, but electronic music is direction that I've always tended
to move in. My musical intentions are focused on delivering
easy listening and recognizable musical expirience. Foundations for
such ambitious plan are made of spacious soundscapes, multi layered
arrangements, expressive harmonization and distinctive melody lines
sometimes caught within improvisation. Even If I let my music be
influenced with almost predictable progressions that are common and
desireable in electronic music I endeavour to keep elements of surpirse
and unexpectable turns in order to make music pleasant and interesting
to the listener.
As
a very young fellow I already had strong interests in music. I enjoyed
classical, electronical and pop music very much and I already wanted to
try to compose and create music myself. So I got myself a portable
synthesizer to try out. I've played music heard on the radio by ear. I
was impressed with Jean Michel Jarre's and Vangelis' delightful music
which made significant influence on my future work.
In
1990 I started to play around with few 'bands' and we had some very
good garage rehersals (yeah, these were happy garage days). We played
rock covers such as The Doors, Creedance, Deep Purple etc. My synth
oriented style was enriched by rock and blues improvisations. During
that period I continued with musical experiments at home with
synthesizers and an Amiga-500 computer as a MIDI-sequencer (I was that
one that wasn't using Atari ST:)).
In
1992, my friends and I established group named 'Faust'. We played a lot
and we had few good concerts in Croatia. We weren't pros, but we had
nice audience and it was great expirience. Our music was very some kind
of fusion between symphonic rock and jazz-blues. During these years I
learned much more about composing, arranging and playing along with
acoustic and rock instruments. After 1995 I played in few later
formations of Faust and other bands.
In
1994 I opened my self to more differnet and profound styles and that I
have discovered beautifull world of Ethno, Contemporary Jazz fusion and
other experimental music, the influence of these discoveries were also
present in my music, as one unique mixture.
In
1995, good friend of mine, Svemir Vranko and I started with studio
sessions during which we have recorded eight pop songs later released
on Senzar's first CD "Ples sunca i mjeseca" in 1998.
Various excellent musicians joined us during these studio sessions. I
would also like to mention my collaboration with new age ensemble
"Ocean of Bliss" because It was inspiring and educative expirience.
During
summer of 1996 I finally finished my home studio sessions and completed
my first demo album 'Unity'. Two compositions from that album were used
as cover songs for TV commercials. In time between 1994 and 1997 and
collaborated with directors Dalibor Martinis and Zoran Sudar on several
occasions, making music for TV commercials.
Between
1997 and 2000, I worked hard on my second demo album named 'Visiting
Blue Planet'. I bought brand new PC and some equipment for digital home
recording. Guitarst Miroslav Dominic (aka Alyen) joined me on many
studio sessions. I have also recorded and produced eight tracks for his
album "Music". In 2000, I finished demo CD 'Visiting Blue Planet'.
Between
2001 and 2006 I worked with less intense, but still, I've improved my
studio setup and recorded more than twenty new tracks. I released few
tracks under Creative Commons license. In 2006 I composed and recorded
sound-track for Yoga-Pilates DVD.
In
2007 I was back on the track and I have decided to release full length
albums "Ephemeris" and "Fortadelis" on the internet and make it
available to the public. Both albums were released under Creative
Common License on few music networks including Jamedno and Last.FM.
I've also managed to complete my home studio setup which is now
top-notch and ready for more demanding musical projects.
